Hard Things About Writing...
A few months back -- shortly after the Atlanta Film Festival Screenplay Competition workshop/retreat -- I was interviewed by Noralil Ryan Fores at Short End Magazine. I had just about forgotten about it when Noralil let me know it's now online. It's probably the lengthiest and most detailed interview I've ever conducted, focused mainly on my writing process, and my unproduced screenplay The Seventh Daughter.

I'm almost finished cutting my short film, The Other Half. Making that film has provided the burst of inspiration I hoped it would, and I've been spending every solitary moment I can steal working on a new manifestation of Eden, Alabama. This is the script I'm referring to when I talk about a more contemporary project that involves, "filmmaking as an expression of sexual desire."
This script has assumed a wide variety of forms, but I'm pretty sure I've finally settled on the one that it was meant to be. That being said, I hope to sometime revisit some of these other permutations and explore their screen potential. One foot... in front of the other....

Hiya Bret, glad to hear you are almost done with your new short and that you have more screenplays in the works. Last night I took every folder of half-completed writing I had filed away and put them on my coffee table. The stack is at least 2 feet tall. My goal today is to pick one of those folders out of the pile and finish whatever is inside. Or maybe I should just start something new... but I fear I'd just be adding another folder to the "in progress" pile. It was good to read this and see what you've been up to. I saw the link on AtlantaFF365's email newsletter. Stay in touch. Oh, and I didn't know Felicia had left CL. I hope she's enjoying her new publication.
